noted before, Mom likes to eat rice! It appears to be one of
the few pleasures of her life. The other being making out with
her husband, Yasuo. She is very critical of Mika and completely
indifferent towards Lain, treating her almost as if she didn't exist
at all. (Balto: And making her clean up her Navi so she can eat more
rice!!)
Warning! Spoilers Follow Just like the other members of Lain's family she is not Lain's biological mother. It is unclear whether she is an actress or actually Yasuo's real wife. She is concerned that her time with Yasuo is "limited". This could be a forshadowing of the end of the "Lain Project", or, perhaps, an indication of the limited amount of time for her and Yasuo to play "husband and wife." The latter statement is hinged on the possibility that Lain's whole family is portrayed by actors who leave at the end of the day to return to their own real lives.
